Better Late Than Never

Friends, I'm posting this outfit super late.  I wore this last Wednesday to go fabric shopping with a friend who I'm making a Halloween costume for, and then for a meeting with my boss at work.  (I work at a restaurant.  No need to get fancy for meetings.)  I loved this outfit so much that I wanted to take photos of it, but I kept running out of time or forgetting.  So this has been hanging up on a hanger in my room for days waiting for me to have time to photograph it.  I finally did!  I actually wore a different scarf with it, but I liked this one better.

I have the morning off of work today, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.  I've had loads of coffee, spent some time hanging out with my kitties and reading blogs, and now I'm working on this Halloween costume.  I like setting aside time to sew.  I haven't been doing a lot of it lately because I've been so busy with work, but I definitely want to start again.

Funny story about these shoes.  I've had the heel replaced on one of them twice.  One time I was at Target and it just popped off in the middle of the clothing section.  The other time I was at work (not on the clock, obviously) and it popped off as I was walking up a couple of steps.  The last time I had it fixed the guy at the repair place said that it was the last time he was going to be able to fix them.  I was super bummed!  So now  I'm super careful everytime I wear them.  I love these booties and I'd be so sad if they broke again.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Yellow Light

Hey, friends!  Long time no see!  I think I'm finally getting back into the blogging swing.  It took a little bit, but I actually took outfit photos today and the other day.  The past few months have been kind of crazy.  I've been really busy with work and starting school and meeting new people.  I know, that's my excuse all the time, but it's the truth.  I'm really loving my job and I've met some great people through it.  The days are long, and I feel like I work all the time, but I greatly enjoy the people that I get to spend time with while I'm there.

I bought this dress in California at a cute vintage shop in the town we were staying in.  I really liked it because they had shortened most of their dresses to knee-length, from probably midi or longer, to make them more modern.  It was great, because that's what I typically do to my vintage/thrifted dresses to make them a little more up to date.  Time saver!  Anyway, I bought three of them, and I totally love them all.

Holding Hands

2nd purple outfit in a row.  I told you, it's a little ridiculous.  I also just bought a new vintage purple lace dress yesterday, so there is even more purple in my closet, now.  I apparently really like purple.

This is one of my new favorite dresses.  I got it a local vintage store in Lincoln and cut the sleeves off of it.  They were poofy and fluttery and made me look like a really tall 5-year old.  So I cut them off.  It was for the best.

I also bought my first pair of TOMS the other day from work.  (I get 40% off, why wouldn't I?).  I love them and want to wear them every day.  They're super comfy and casual and I'm really glad I got them.

Last night was my very last training shift at Lazlo's.  I get to start working all by myself tomorrow!  I'm really excited.  I very much enjoy working there.

Love Like This

I've been keeping pretty busy since I got to Lincoln.  It's a little after 6pm as I write this and I can hardly believe it!  What have I done all day?  I went for a walk, had a job interview, walked around The Haymarket (downtown Lincoln) with a friend, went to a bookstore, and visited my cousin Nate.  It's been a surprisingly filling day.

I wore this outfit yesterday to meeting, and then to lunch with some friends.  I actually out this outfit together in about 10 minutes while also being half-asleep.  Not too shabby.  On top of that, everything I'm wearing is secondhand.  It was fairly cool yesterday, considering how warm it's been lately.  This vintage sheer shirt was perfect.

I've definitely been enjoying having my free-time here.  I have lots of time to just hang out with Simon, and read, and relax.  It's really nice.  I might as well take advantage of it now, before I find a job and start school.

Metropolis

Okay, this outfit is really old.  I'm getting so out of order here!  I took photos of three different outfits today to post over the next few days.  I'll probably be scheduling a few posts to last me through my move and a day or two afterward.

I wore this outfit on Monday night for a going away dinner that Adeline threw me.  It was just me, Adeline, and Mayson, the other receptionist.  We had a very good time.  It's sad to leave the salon, but I'm looking forward to new adventures.  I wore this vintage nightgown again and I loved it.  I have a hard time styling it, because it's really short and flowy, but I really like this outfit.

We had a going away party last night at my parent's house.  It was so much fun.  There was a lot of food, plenty of drinks, and wonderful friends.  It was really nice to see everyone before I leave.  I still have a few lunch-dates and what not planned for the next few days, but mostly I'll just be packing and cleaning.  Exciting!

It Was You

This isn't going to be a very exciting post, friends.  You might just want to look at the pictures and skip the word part.  I'm at work right now and it's so nice and sunny and warm outside.  I really just want to playing in the sun instead of inside sitting at this desk.  Blegh.  But tomorrow is my last day of work before I move (!) and then I have a few days off before I actually leave.

I finally started packing last night.  The hardest part is not being able to bring everything I want to bring because of lack of space.  I can only take one carload of stuff, and I have a pretty little car.  I guess that will make me even more motivated to get a job and find my own place so I have more room.  Fingers crossed.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

How to be a Lady

Friends, I wore pants yesterday.  And not just pants, jeans.  I'm pretty sure this is only the fifth time I've ever worn pants on this blog.  Really, I usually wear skirts and dresses.  I'm much more comfortable in something flowy and fun than jeans.  But yesterday was a jeans day.  I was really not feeling tights and a skirt, so I put on the most comfortable jeans I own.  These ones are super stretchy and they don't have front pockets or a zipper.  Awesome!

I'm absolutely in love with this sweater.  This is the first time I've worn it.  Isn't it gorgeous?  It's vintage and wonderful and beautiful.  I paired it with this under-shirt to give it a little edge.  I really like it.
