Hearts Out to Dry

 So I convinced Jason to take photos for me again.  Well, it wasn't really that difficult.  I think he likes doing it.  It's just a matter of the two of us getting together before I leave for the show so that we have time to take photos.

 This outfit is from Thursday night.  I went to Jason's before the show to do some work on the movie schedule, and then we had the first performance of our 3rd weekend of Avenue Q.  Only one more to go!

I feel very matchy in this outfit.  My cardigan and tights echo the navy blue flowers in the dress, while the maroon shoes echo the maroon flowers.  I just don't usually match my sweater to my tights, unless it's black.  But It looks very put together and I like it a lot.

I find that this type of skirt is the most flattering on me.  I like how I look in tighter, more fitted skirts, but I'm definitely more comfortable in skirts with more body.

Quiet Houses

Not a lot to say today, friends.  I'm in a hurry to leave for our double performances tonight, so I'll just leave everyone with a little blurb and some photos.

Another Case

Good morning!  This outfit is from the same day as my last post, just later in the day.  I threw it on in a hurry to have a last minute dinner with my parents, and then go to the show.  I honestly didn't put much thought into it at all.  But sometimes that works!

It was absolutely freezing outside!

Today is my last day at my store.  We closed for business on Sunday, and yesterday and today we've just been clearing things out and packing boxes.  It's really depressing, but I'm trying not to let it get to me too much.  I'm taking some much needed time off in February and I'm so looking forward to that.

I've decided that I'm going to give myself a challenge for the month of February.  Kind of like a shopping ban, but not quite.  My goal is to not shop at any traditional retail stores for an entire month. Only thrift stores.  I think I can do it.  The only exceptions are for underwear, socks, and tights.  If I need any of those items I will go to Target.  Other than that, though, any clothing or jewelry item will be purchased at Goodwill or Savers.  I'm really looking forward to it!  I'll do little recaps of what I buy every week.

I'm having a great morning so far.  Well, except for the part when a certain little kitten woke me up by sitting on my face at about 6:30.  The past few mornings, Simon has desperately wanted attention between 6 and 7 in the morning.  I'm not sure why, but it's very irritating when I don't have to be awake yet.  He's adorable, and annoying.

I have a half day at work today, and I'm so excited.  I've found that since the store closed, and we started doing liquidation sales, I hate being there more and more every day.  It's so hard watching something I put 2 1/2 years of my life into slowly walk out the door with every transaction.  My patience with people is wearing thin, and I can feel myself getting snippy with customers.  I'm ready for it all to be over.

I wore this outfit last night to the show.  I went straight from work to the performance, so I wore the same shirt and sweater that I wore to work and just swapped out my jeans for a skirt.

This is a very atypical outfit for me.  I only own two button-up shirts, and I rarely wear them.  I'm also not sure I've ever worn one underneath a sweater.  I love the slightly preppy feel it gives off.  The skirt is unusual for me, too.  I don't remember the last time I wore a skirt around my hips, instead of at my natural waist.  I don't generally like to wear things that don't emphasize my waistline, but I like how this turned out.  I really love the color palette.  Also, how cool is this necklace?

I like stepping out of my comfort zone a little like this.  It's not so far out that I don't feel like myself, but it's a little bit different for me and it's interesting.

Mexican Wrestler

I really need to get the hang of taking indoor outfit photos.  It probably doesn't help that I take them at 11:30 at night after I get home from rehearsal.  But really, I don't know nearly enough about cameras to fix these pictures from being grainy and out of focus.  So I guess you guys will just have to deal until I figure it out.

Wore this on Tuesday night to go see The Sound of Music, that my mom, roommate, and lots of good friends are in.  It was very good; probably the best production of SOM that I've seen.  I was in a production of it in high school, as a nun, so I wasn't super excited about seeing this one.  But I was very impressed.

I planned this outfit without the sweater, and I loved it.  Sometimes, I wish it was warm enough not to have to wear a sweater, but cool enough to wear tights.  Unfortunately, that weather never happens.  I really prefer this outfit without the sweater, though.  It seems so much lighter and more fun.  But, the theater is always chilly, so the sweater was necessary.

Foundations

True story:  Everything I'm wearing is second-hand.  Okay, except for the tights.  I'm not quite that ambitious - wearing second-hand tights sounds strange.  But really, everything else is thrifted or vintage.  I'm extremely proud of myself for that fact.  It wasn't even really intentional.  I put this skirt, top, belt and shoes on, and then I realized that they were all thrifted.  So I decided to stick with the theme and wear thrifted jewelry, also.  

I had a massively gigantic break from jury duty today (translation: 2 hours) so I went home and took photos.  I really enjoy having the time in the day to do that.  I used to wake up extra early to take photos, but since we're making our way into fall, the sun is coming up later and later.  Pretty soon I'll be going to work in the dark!  That's definitely part of the reason I've been lacking in the outfit posts lately.  I just need to find the time in the day to take photos.  Time to get creative!

Fun fact:  This is the only button-down shirt I own.

You Are Everyone

I have some bad news, friends.  I woke up bright and early this morning to take photos before work, and my camera, along with my laptop, has decided to stop recognizing my camera's memory stick.  So these photos were taken with my super old Kodak EasyShare camera.  This camera was actually the very first item I purchased with my very first paycheck ever.  It's about 4 years old, and cost $300 when I got it.  I love it to death, but it just doesn't hold a charge anymore.  I was a little worried about the quality of these photos, but they turned out pretty okay!

I love this dress, but it has been a huge style challenge for me.  It definitely has to do with the waist line (who decided it needed to go right there?  Dumb.) and the facing on the top.  You can't see it in these photos, because I intentionally covered it, but the bodice facing is completely visible through the top.  I'm not a fan.  Also, the straps are really cheap so they fold over themselves a lot.  I've found that I like this dress best if I cover up my shoulders, to hide the straps, and hide the wonky facing.  The waist line I just have to deal with.

Another fun fact, these shoes are actually the very first pair of heels I ever purchased.  I've had them for years and they've held up so well.  

You may notice something different about me.  If you pay any attention at all, that is.  I got a haircut on Wednesday!  I love it a lot.  My friend Izzy cut it, and I think she did a wonderful job.  I was in dire need of a new cut.  I love how asymmetrical it is.  What do you guys think?
