If It's the Beaches

Yes, I am posting photos of myself in a bathing suit on the internet.  Because really, why not?  I know I don't look like a supermodel and that's fine by me!

These photos are from my beach day on Sunday.  It was perfect out and there was absolutely no one else at the beach.  It was wonderful.  (That mysterious figure in the above photo is my friend and photographer.  He prefers to remain anonymous.)

By the time this is posted, I will already be on my way to Lincoln!  This is a crazy adventure for me, but I'm so excited and I can't wait to see where it takes me.

Homegrown Style: Day 3

Okay, so today is actually day 6 of Homegrown, but I wore this outfit on day 3.  It's confusing, I know.  I actually didn't go out to Homegrown at all on days 4 or 5 for various reasons, so this is the latest outfit from Homegrown.  I'll probably go out tonight, though, so I will have that to share with you all tomorrow!

On day 3 I called it a really early night.  I went to see Adeline's daughter's band play at 7, and was home by 8.  Adeline's daughter is 11, and her other two bandmates are 11 and 13.  They were awesome!  The theater was packed and they got a standing ovation at the end.  It was wonderful.

It was warm enough here for a couple of days to go without tights.  Unfortunately, it's not longer nice out and I find myself wearing huge sweaters and wool socks.  Ick.  I'm anxious both for nice weather and for my move, since it's substantially warmer in Lincoln than it is here.

Speaking of moving, I have a job interview when I get into town!  It's at a local bar/grill that my cousin Nate works at.  I'm really nervous and excited.  It would be great to find a job right away and start saving up for my own place.  My cousin Sarah was nice enough to invite me to stay with her and her husband and their new baby, but I think I'll feel like I'm imposing after a little while.  Obviously, I can't move out until I have a job and have some money saved up, though!

I'm still getting over this sickness a little, but I did go to work today and I'm hoping to go out to a few shows tonight for Homegrown.  I'm trying to make the most of my last weeks in Duluth!  Right now, though, I really want to crawl back into bed.  Oh, well.

Big News!

I'm moving!

Can anyone guess where by the photos above?  The third one should give it away, but in case it doesn't: I'm moving to Lincoln, Nebraska!

I have loads of family down there and it's a wonderful city.  I'm looking for a change in my life right now, and I think this is perfect.  It's been in the works for a while, but I wanted to wait to announce it until I knew it was for sure.  I'm going to stay with my cousin and her husband until I find a job and can get my own place, and I'm going to go back to school.  It's very exciting!  I leave in less than a month!

Don't worry, though, I will still be blogging up a storm in Lincoln.  You'll just get new scenery!  I'll keep everyone updated with when I'm leaving and such along the way.

1. A little peak backstage of A Steady Rain.  2. My X-Ray of the needle in my finger.  3&4. The lovely bread bunny and Easter basket that my neighbor got me as a get well gift.  5. Simon makes it very hard to read sometimes.  6. The new throne chair we got in for the salon.  7. One of Adeline's clients brought yummy cookies!  8. My opening night outfit.  9. Adeline's daughter and I watched Eurythmics and Heart videos on youtube at work.  10. Paula's birthday celebration!  11. Blogging outside yesterday.  12. Outfit from last night.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.  I'm having a movie marathon!

Sew Dangerous

Yes, that is an X-ray of my finger.

I just got home from spending 2.5 hours at the hospital.  At 11:30 today, I sewed my finger with my sewing machine.  Accidentally, of course.  I was working on a table-skirt for work, got distracted by something, and next thing you know I'm bleeding and in terrible pain.  If that wasn't the worst part, I also couldn't find the tip of the needle.

So, I called my mom, who is kind of a bigwig at the clinic here, and she pulls some strings, talks to some people, and gets me in for an X-ray right away.  I drive straight to the clinic, get the X-ray done, and then patiently wait with my mom in her office until the results are available.  Then we saw the picture above.

If you can't tell, the tip of my sewing machine needle is stuck in my finger.  Awesome.  Anyway, I can't get in to surgery until tomorrow afternoon, so until then I'm taking it easy and trying not to use my left index finger. At the moment, I'm watching a movie in bed, accompanied by a kitty and a couple of puppies, and a glass of wine.

It's been an exciting day so far.

Stella's Day Out

Yesterday, Jason and I took all the dogs out for a nice long walk.  We brought my parents' two dogs, Marco and Beanie, and Jason's new puppy, Stella.  This was only Stella's third walk, and she's really getting the hang of being out in the woods with us.  It's fun watching her interact with the two older dogs.

You guys are also getting a little sneak peek at my outfit from yesterday.  I'll have a full post up later.

Stella experienced snow for the first time the other day.  She's totally obsessed with it!  She loves licking it and laying down in it.

And then Stella fell in the pond.  She's been really enjoying drinking out of the pond during our hikes, but yesterday she got a little too close and fell all the way in.  Jason was so nervous that she was going to drown or float away.  No worries, though.  Dogs are natural swimmers and Stella was only about 2 inches away from shore.  She shimmied herself out of the water and back onto land with no problem.  She was a little shaken up, though!

Stella is a total sweetheart.
