Born to Hum

Good afternoon, friends!  It's an interesting day here at my house.  Our stairs, upstairs hallway, and upstairs bathroom are all getting new floors this week.  It started at 8am yesterday morning and will probably continue into Thursday.  Since my bedroom is in the middle of all of this mess, I have been relegated to the 3-season deck-house we have.  It has a bed and a TV and electricity, so I can't really complain.  I have had to bring any clothing/jewelry/make-up that I might want in the next few days out here with me.  I felt like I was doing a little 30-for-30 challenge!  Except that instead of 30 days it's more like 4, and I had almost no time to decide what I was bringing.  I mostly just grabbed what was closest and that's what I will be wearing for the next few days.  Exciting!

My clothing for the next couple of days.

I was inspired by Kendi's belt (seen here) and really wanted to get one of my own.  So I the next time I was at Target I made a point of searching for it.  I found it, but of course it was WAY out of my price range. (Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I think it was $15.  Too much money for me to spend on a belt.)  I decided it wasn't meant to be and went on my way, though I was a little disappointed.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I found the gorgeous belt above on shopebearcat vintage on etsy.  Clearly it didn't work out at Target because I was meant to find this even nicer vintage belt.  I love it so much!  I think it's even prettier than the Target one, really, and I think I paid $10 for it instead of $15.  Not too shabby, Kate, not too shabby.

It has been so hot here the past couple of weeks!  For a native Duluthian, it's almost too hot.  I'm sure anyone south of here would disagree and tell me that it's not hot at all, but up here in the Arctic, 73 degrees is HOT.  Now, I'm sure you're all wondering "If it is so hot, Kate, why are you wearing a sweater?"  Well, friends, I will tell you.  My dad and I went out to lunch today and I find that most restaurants are absolutely freezing all the time.  Does anyone else notice that?  It's very irritating.  Also, I'm not a huge fan of the way the facing looks on the top of this dress and I felt the need to cover it up a little.  There is your answer.

Dress :: Ragstock // Sweater :: Target // Belt :: Shopbearcat Vintage // Shoes :: Thrifted (Target) // Necklace :: Thrifted // Bracelet :: Thrifted

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!  I have the night off and I'm looking forward to relaxing.

  1. 1st you are amazing. I love your confidence,decisions,choices in fashion and self respect. 2nd you went to lunch with your dad? Nice. I am so enmeshed in work and rehearsals I am gone from 9am-10pm every day. So I never see you. You have a really cool blog. Just saying - so even though we live in the same house...now I can talk to you.

  3. That belt is super cool. It really draws the eye and I like how you paired it with grey and olive. Good luck with your capsule wardrobe!
